I am new to illustrator. I need to modify an SVG file that is used in one of our applications. Apparently, I will need to keep the layer structure and names the same as the original file. I notice that when I save the file, a bunch of new layers/groups/images are created. Suddenly I'll have a bunch of nested groups where I had none before. Why is this happening? It looks like some effects that I applied have been converted into images... I don't have an understanding of why this is. (When I saved a copy of my file to work on it, I said to embed, etc.)
