i've got similiar problem in Master Collection CS6 (but on Windows 7 64bit)
when i r.click > replace with AE comp > set the name of AE file > then nothing happens in AE (nothing appears on timeline, no file in library appear as well)
And now if i quit AE, Pr shows message "the importer reported generic error", BUT if i dont quit AE but just come back to Pr it freezes and crashes.
i tried to uninstall AE & Pr, then i uninstalled whole Master Collection CS6 and used Adobe CC Cleaner tool to remove all data, then installed MC CS6 and updated all programs. Didn't work, same issue...
please help Adobe!
