This is something that I would definitely see some evangelist or a skilled one put there hands on. I would love to see a video that walks one through the process and adding alternative methods, workflow and best practice.
I am in a similar situation but with slightly different parameters. But I think this is a very interesting question in many aspects of working between Photoshop and Illustrator, dealing with scripts, workflow in big projects and so on.
