We both feel the same way on this, especially if one is limited to PrE.
I would not want to take this on, except for the sheer fun, and challenge of working on it, or if I were being paid by the hour! A lot of patience WILL be required.
OTOH, I would fall back to After Effects, but that is not a viable solution for one who does not have it, or have access to it.
